Alien
started life as a Kawasaki Voyager that required a new front-end and a mass
of repairs to the bodywork, as a conventional bike it looked far too long.
---
A body-kit or cover seemed to be the answer, as the tank could be false
and disguise all the electrics and the fuel tank was low between the frames
so it’s naturally hidden. After a few preliminary sketches I had an
idea that I thought would work, The idea would be radical to say the least,
but with the style of the bike being so bland I was afraid that whatever
I designed would only complement the blandness.
I decided to go the more dramatic route.
---
"I had always been impressed by
the look of fossils, so what could be more fun than a 150mph trilobite."
---
Everybody was starting to call the bike Alien, even though the bike didn’t
resemble anything Alien; perhaps they were referring to a H.R.Giger connection,
as even I could definitely see the Giger influence, even though at the time
not intended.
When eventually finished the bike was featured in all the major bike mags,
along with the Daily Telegraph. Top Gear and even appeared in the Gas Hall
Gallery in Birmingham City art gallery.
This is story of how it was all done in words and pictures, jut click on the icons below.
