Quicksilver
was designed and produced by Al-Lewellyn and myself when I worked at A&L
Autos in Romford. The van was a promotion vehicle for Quick’s of Old
Trafford Manchester. The whole job was designed on Al’s living room
floor at his house in Hornchurch.
The van was painted in a warehouse just outside Romford and the idea for
the murals came from an illustration in a local news paper, not only did
we have the van to do, we also had a huge Ford Transcontinental truck to
paint at the same time that had to match for Ford.
Ford were also asking us to design paintjobs for vans that they were seriously
considering putting into production, porthole windows included.
