Close up of Night Gallerys artwork, the initial inspiration for the murals came from a book that was given to me that featured the late great Frank Franzetta.
I think Franzetta was an amazing illustrator and artist who in my eyes
could do no wrong, what I did was try to take the essence of his work
rather than slavishly copy the guys illustrations, something
that I was accused of on numerous accessions, rather than be offended
I thought to myself, wow..!! I must be as good as the master, as the work
I was accused of copying was all my own..
I did do a few straight copies but only by demand or budget...!!r
budget..!!

Yet
another Al-Lewellyn and myself collaboration, George came up with the
name, Al the lettering on the back door andI supplied the artwork for
the Murals, halfway through the execution of the paint job I had to go
back to Manchester one week end and on returning to Sawbridgeworth, I
discovered to my horror that impetuous Al had slapped a strip right through
the side of the van with no ideas for either the start or the finish,
hence the animal heads on the strip, and the reason for the murals at
the top and the pattern work on the bottom.
But as far as I’m concerned the paintjob really worked in the end
and as far as the haunted murals are concerned with the apparitions well
that’s a secret ...
