Iron Horse

Toyota Hi-ace promotion vehicle, for Beddoes of Middleton Manchester.
The van didn’t immediately lend its self to the ideas that the client suggested, as the van sides required steel sheeting to cover indentations where windows could be fitted.
On sheeting the sides a huge problem was encountered, when foam that had been installed at the factory to hold the sides of the van rigid caught fire. This was very difficult to access as it had been concealed within a double skin and the only way to retrieve the foam was through two tiny hatches inside the van.
Once removed the damage became apparent, and the whole side of the van had to be repaired, we were starting to think the van was jinxed as everything was going wrong..
The Mural work went surprisingly well considering the size and detail involved and the fact that I was using materials I had never tried before, so much for the jinx..
But the van (AKA Christine) still hadn’t finished. The side door that had been removed for lacquering fell face down on the workshop floor, and on polishing the van was giving everybody huge electric shocks, sparks were flying everywhere..
